James looked down at his friends still on earth he wished he could help some how. In azkaban Sirius sat with his head between his knees the dementors forcing him to remember horrible things. James didn’t know what he could do for his friend

James looked down on Remus now. He was crying at his and lily’s funeral it seemed strange watching a coffin that contained his own body lowered into the ground he still had a hard time remembering he was dead if only there was something I could do he thought

Then he looked at peter the cause of all this if it wasn’t for him…

He turned to his left and gazed on the face of his wife lily the sight always mesmerised him. She had tears in her eyes as she looked up at him.

“If only there was something we could do,” she said softly James put his arm round her shoulders feeling tears prick at the back of his own eyes. “Remus doesn’t even know the truth,” she continued

“I know” he replied his voice came out quieter than he expected “I think I’m the luckiest marauder at the moment and I’m dead” he sad miserably

“Lucky?”

“I have you” he said softly he looked into her eyes he had known always that he would love her forever she hadn’t always been so sure. But James had resolved never to give up on her.

And it had paid off lily had eventually agreed to go out with him. The others had found it funny particularly Sirius because James was completely devoted to lily. Him the leader of the marauders basically the king of the school.

Lily looked lovingly at James remembering how he had moaned when she had cut his hair

“Your right we are lucky” she said


She tied you to a kitchen chair

They looked down once more Remus had rapt his thin cloak around himself and was walking away from the church towards there own house. He reached the rubble and stepped over what used to be the living room wall the house was nearly completely destroyed

He was finding it so difficult to grasp that they had all gone James, lily and peter were all dead and Sirius…It was Sirius’ fault. They were the only proper friends he had ever had four of the few people who didn’t care.

He’d only met a handful of people who liked him regardless and one of them had turned out to be a traitor Remus wondered yet again whether Sirius had ever really cared about any of them had Sirius secretly hated them and had been only using them all these years

He’d thought they’d loved each other like brothers, that’s what they had been to him (apart from lily who was more like a sister) had it been so different for Sirius?

Sirius thought of all he’d done wrong he’d not noticed how Remus was at all he felt awful for what he’d done. In his view Remus hadn’t been able to approach him because of how he’d acted.

Lily looked at James he had tears in his eyes

“Why do I have to be dead” he moaned “I want to help” lily hugged him they had so many memories together and with the others it was so hard watching them struggle to carry on she hoped with all her heart they did.

James looked at Lily he couldn’t believe how beautiful she looked even when she was upset he couldn’t believe he’d got her in the end.

James and Lily looked down with sad eyes as they rose into heaven. Sirius put his head against his knees and started to cry. Remus looked down at the floor his tears splashed against the rubble. Somewhere in a sewer a rat who was really peter shed a single tear.
